Lava Gorge

A wooden rope bridge over a lake of lava.

Lava Gorge – Slope

Overview

Lava Gorge is a rickety wooden rope bridge strung across a glowing lava lake, through a volcanic crater and into an obsidian cave. Fall off and there is nothing below but molten rock.

The bridge itself is the main enemy. On crumbling sections whole rows of planks break away on one side, so you have to keep switching to the solid half. Fire geysers burst up through the gaps on a timer, and the ball runs slightly faster here than on the standard track.

Obstacles and hazards

  • Fire geysersColumns of fire erupt on a steady rhythm. Watch one cycle, then pass while it is down.
  • BlocksSolid obstacles on the planks.

Special terrain

  • Crumbling planksRows of planks fall away on the left or right. Look ahead for the missing half and move to the solid side early.
  • Narrow bridgeThere is little room on either side, so small, precise steering matters.

Tips

  • Look several rows ahead on crumbling sections; the safe side switches.
  • Geysers flicker and their base pulses just before they erupt. If it is flickering, wait.
  • Use lower steering sensitivity if you keep overshooting the narrow bridge.
  • Stay calm on the long straight sections: they often lead into a crumble run.
